I am currently unwilling to write a review on this one. It was a good book, if you like history. I did read this book and I really like writing reviews so I am going to do this anyways. It took me an entire week to read this 300 page novel! A whole week!
From the beginning.
In my mind I felt like Dr. William was almost crazy but the author tried to pull him off as something else. Almost.... Heroic. The whole time I was trying to decide if he was good or bad. Alexis St. Martin was also very hard to understand. William and Alexis had the most confusing relationship! Alexis hated William but he always went to Dr. Beaumont when he was asked. And Dr. Beaumont did not like Alexis and yet he still asked him countless times to come back to him. The whole book was about ambition and money. What did I expect? This is why I like YA fiction.

I only read the book in the first place because I have a essay about it for school. Too bad there is not a movie. It was beautifully worded, and I say that truthfully. The words practically flowed off the page! I could not relate with any of the characters except for William Beaumont's wife, Deborah. Who was always compelling him to do the right thing and think of their young children. I can not even pick up one of my favorite novels! I am not trying to be mean this just was not my kind of book.
If you like historical fiction you will love this book!
Thank you
