Helen is a princess of Sparta. She is beautiful and she is expected to be everything a perfect daughter should be, but Helen wants something more out of life than spinning, weaving and sewing, she wants to learn to fight. She is determined to become what she wants to be and break the standards expected of women. Throughout her journey Helen wears a facade of a princess but when she acts like her true self she makes some enemies like Theseus the self-proclaimed “son of Poseidon”, and friends like the Huntress Atlanta and the Oracle of Delphi, a young priestess.
Helen is amazing, beautiful loyal, strong and brave. Who every girl wants to be, but when it comes to who she is, she will only be herself. That's who she wants to be.
Helen's snotty brothers were hilarious! You would not think of princess to be like normal boys. The way Esther Friesner described them made me wonder if she'd met my brothers! So to speak. It was so funny to read about them constantly making fun of Helen! Falling into each others arms from laughing to hard. Twins!
I really did love this book and would love to read it again. I can not wait until my next trip to the Library to get the next book "Nobody's Prize"!
Thank you so much!
