The Iron Daughter, Julie Kagawa

 The Iron Daughter
# 2 in The Iron Fey Series
Julie Kagawa

Moral: 4 Content: 2 Language: 2 Enjoy-ability: 4 Characters: 4

I am not always impressed by sequels  but I was amazed by the Iron Daughter. The fight to rescue the scepter, and save the world above everything else, beautiful! The story was boisterous and interesting. The love triangle, I can always live without. I find those kinds of things rather annoying. Occasionally there is one that I actually agree with, but in this case; Not really. I still loved all the characters. Ironhorse's loyalty and strength, Mab's iciness, even Meghan held up under all the pressure. The descriptions picked it up a notch and the action was more realistic (if magical fearys fighting can be realistic). The end was astonishing, I wanted to scream at the book. I mean, who could end a book like that? Even though I am unhappy about the end, I will live on to read the next book...

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.
